  Mastiff Hope Adoption Process

Thank you for your interest in adopting a Mastiff through Mastiff Hope. Mastiffs who become available for adoption are Mastiffs that are referred to us if, for any reason, they are homeless and the breeder cannot be located. Usually, they range from two to six years of age. These Mastiffs come from a variety of circumstances, including animal shelters.

When a Mastiff is released to Mastiff Hope, it is taken to a veterinarian for a medical check-up and necessary vaccinations. The Mastiff’s temperament is evaluated and we attempt to locate any past history of the Mastiff.  These Mastiffs are spayed or neutered before being released to their new home.

Our rescue organization strives to bring together Mastiffs and families in the same geographical area in order to keep transportation costs to a minimum. However, if you are willing to pay for transportation to adopt from another area, you could find a Mastiff in your home sooner than you think.

We are looking for permanent, loving homes where the Mastiff will receive top quality care. These Mastiffs need a special place where they will be appreciated as a companion dog and part of the family.  Mastiffs are NOT FOR EVERYONE.

Before you decide to acquire a Mastiff, we strongly recommend you acquaint yourself and your family with this noble breed.  Please visit the Mastiff Club of America website at www.mastiff.org, and read the Mastiff FAQ section to find out if a Mastiff is the right breed for you.

We also recommend reading the books listed at the bottom of this page when considering a Mastiff and rescue.

Adopting a Mastiff

Below is the process that you will need to follow in order to adopt a Mastiff through our program. Please read the process carefully, and follow it completely. If you do not follow the process, the processing of your application will be slowed down considerably.

Please note that an adoptive home cannot be considered for adoption until a Family Profile is completed and submitted to Mastiff Hope for review and consideration.

Adoption Donation

The adoption donation for a Mastiff Hope is up to $350. At all times, additional tax deductible donations to our program are gratefully accepted and appreciated.

Adoption Process

1. Submit Family Profile using our on-line Family Profile form. Please note on the form which dog you are interested in if one has been identified.

2.
Contact the volunteer listed as the foster for the dog you are interested in to express your interest. Please note that contacting a rescue volunteer is something you are doing in addition to completing the online Family Profile.

3.
One or more rescue volunteers will contact you via telephone to review your application with you, and ask any questions we may have about your Family Profile.

4.
A home visit will be scheduled - After reviewing your Family Profile and agreeing with you that your home are still a candidate, a representative of our rescue program will schedule a home visit with you. A home visit is a visit to your home by a representative of our rescue program to see where the dog will live to make sure that a proper loving environment will be provided to our dog in-need. We will also want to see your interaction with the other animals in your house or, with the dog our representative brings with them for your home visit.

5.
Upon a successful home visit, you will then be eligible to adopt a loving Mastiff who will give you and your family undying love and devotion!
